Talktrans presented their research Transportation and the Economy: Incentives beyond economic value, the viability of the reliever airport system at the annual CTS, U of M Transportation Conference at the St Paul River Center Tues, April 26th. The presentation focuses on the local reliever airport system and its inability to cover its own operating costs, its declining number of General Aviation operations and its increased number of commercial operations, its significant subsidies to users, its distorted and misrepresentative economic impact to communities it resides in, and its incompatible and uneconomical use of land. Reponses to a questionnaire distributed to conference attendees will be posted online.
